"Trickle Pendulum" wood
This mechanism is one of a very few self contained mechanisms made of only two moving relative to each other parts. Actually just two came to mind - “Bolt and Nut” and “Sand Clock”. One was invented in 400 BC , the other in 8-th century. Since that times, seems to me, no more mechanisms in this group were invented. Currently “Trickle Pendulum” US # 63/033,910 priority patent application acknowledged by USPTO. For more detailed description and history of it’s development click here.
This “patent pending” toy is fun to watch, it has completely mesmerizing and somewhat hypnotic moves. Base made of warm polished wood and shaped to fit human hand makes it desirable to carry around and play often. As any pendulum, this one required to be started by giving initial swing to “Trickler” made from Sterling Silver and plastic. Odd number of holes on the Base allow almost automatic re-start of the pendulum when Base rotated clock-wise (required some practice to make it automatic).
